Thursday, April 17 Should I Start a New Business?
Starting and running a successful business is generally rewarding but usually quite challenging. What factors should be considered in making the big decision? For example, how much time will you really need to dedicate to get your new enterprise started and then run it? What risks are involved? These and other important questions will be answered during this workshop.
Tuesday, April 29 Creating a Winning Business Plan
For new ventures, completion of the business plan is the all-important first step in traveling the road to success. Effective development and presentation of essential plan sections must be achieved. Find out how as Brianna Zhang explains a sound approach and highlights examples from previous plans.
Tuesday, May 13 Finding Funding for the New Business
You’ve put a lot of time and effort into planning your new venture and know about how much money you’ll need to begin the operation and keep it going. Now it’s time to raise capital. Should you try and persuade friends to loan you part of what’s needed? How might the Small Business Administration be able to help? Are there grants available for the type of startup you envision? Come to this workshop and get the answers you need to make your dream a reality.

Good marketing is crucial to the success of any business. What are the basics of good marketing? Come learn about key terms, concepts, and tasks, including researching trends in your chosen industry, defining the target market, and identifying potential competitors.
Dr. Susan D. Peters, Director of Francis Marion University’s Center for Entrepreneurship, and Brianna Zhang, manager of FMU’s Kelley Small Business Institute, will lead the workshops.
Learn How to Draw Superheroes
Thursday, April 24 6:30 p.m.
Thanks to the movies, superheroes are more popular than ever, but before they graced the silver screen, superheroes were born from artists’ imaginations and sketches on paper. Now you can learn how to draw your own superhero! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, this class will give you tips and techniques to draw your favorite superheroes or create an awesome new one!
This free program, which is open to children ages 8-17 and their parents or caretakers, will last about one hour. Registration is required; call 843-396-4287 or visit the library.
