Let you imagination run wild with a special story time! Take a break from the summer heat with some great yarns, then work off your energy with some song and dance!

Board Game Nights

Tuesdays, August 12 & 26  

6:00 - 7:30 pm

Summer Reading is over, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Travel by train across Asia! Battle for gold in the Wild West! Work together to make the best fireworks display! Stomp through a city as a giant monster! Board games let you do all that and more. Children and teens ages 8-17 are invited to join us for an evening of fun and good food. Board game nights will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday every month during the summer. This free event will last about 90 minutes. (Each session is the complete, stand-alone class.)

Microsoft Word is a versatile, widely used program. High-quality letters, resumes, term papers, legal documents, fliers, and tables can be created with the application. This FREE class will cover basic tasks such as starting and saving a document, formatting and moving text, and inserting images.

Family Movie Event

Sunday, August 17

2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Think you have what it takes to run with ninjas? What about six foot tall, green ninjas fueled by pizza? Come test your mettle with an action comedy favorite at the library. Movie rated PG. This free program, which is open to children of all ages and their parents or caretakers, will last about 90 minutes. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Olanta Public Library. GED & High School Diploma Information Session

Thursday, August 21

7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Our library will host a free information session for adults who want to earn their GED (General Equivalency Diploma) or South Carolina High School diploma. In addition, there will be a demonstration of the high-quality Learning Express Library resource, which has an entire section dedicated to preparation for the GED. The resource is available for free online through DISCUS (Digital Information for South Carolina USers). The time is now! Come learn about Florence County School District 3 Adult Education’s (FCSD 3) outstanding programs for achieving your goal. Classes are offered in Lake City, Olanta, and Pamplico, with a Johnsonville location to be added soon. There are no county residence requirements for FCSD 3 Adult Education programs.
